Los «100 mejores discos punk de todos los tiempos» según Rolling Stone

Rolling Stone volvió a encender una de las discusiones favoritas de internet: los rankings definitivos. Ahora, la revista publicó su lista de los 100 mejores discos punk de todos los tiempos, mezclando clásicos intocables, elecciones dudosas y varios nombres que rápidamente dividieron opiniones.

Más que un simple recuento de discos, el artículo ejerce una toma de posición: esto es lo que Rolling Stone entiende por punk. Y la definición no se negocia con tempo ni con decibelios. El punk, según la lógica que ordena el ranking, es ante todo una actitud de ruptura, una forma de pararse frente al mundo y decir que no. Desde ahí, el canon se abre y respira: hay proto-punk y hardcore, post-punk y riot grrrl, skate punk y pop-punk, y también esos discos alternativos que nunca levantaron el puño pero igual cargaban con la ética del género tatuada en las entrañas.

Por eso aparecen nombres esperables como Ramones, The Clash, Sex Pistols o Black Flag, pero también álbumes que abrieron inmediatamente la discusión, como Nevermind de Nirvana, Marquee Moon de Television o White Light/White Heat de The Velvet Underground.

La lista también se anima a meter nombres de esta generación —Turnstile, IDLES, Mannequin Pussy— y algo de eso se agradece: al menos nadie puede decir que fotocopiaron el mismo ranking de siempre.

Obviamente internet reaccionó. En redes sociales, muchos criticaron que la revista expandiera demasiado la definición de punk hasta hacerla irreconocible, mezclando discos que cambiaron la historia con otros que, según muchos, no tienen nada que hacer en esa conversación. El orden tampoco se salvó, con debates sobre el lugar de Bad Religion, la presencia de Nevermind de Nirvana en el puesto 9 y por qué Dead Kennedys quedó mucho más abajo de lo que merece.

Con todo, hubo decisiones que encontraron algo parecido al consenso: los Ramones como columna vertebral del listado, London Calling en la parte alta y el lugar de Horses de Patti Smith como la actitud punk antes del punk.

En el fondo, el ranking parece intentar algo más amplio que ordenar discos: proponer una conversación sobre qué significa realmente el punk en 2026. Y ahí es donde se arma el verdadero debate.

¿El punk es un sonido específico? ¿Una escena? ¿O simplemente una actitud capaz de mutar con las décadas?
