Richie Faulkner de Judas Priest: «El Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Fame es un chiste»
Hoy temprano, el Salón de la Fama del Rock and Roll anunció que los miembros de este año serían Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, T. Rex, The Doobie Brothers, The Notorious B.I.G. y Whitney Houston, sin duda grandes bandas y artistas, pero esta vez dejaron fuera a actos realmente de rock mucho más grandes.
La decisión dejó afuera a artistas y bandas como Judas Priest, Motörhead, Thin Lizzy, Soundgarden, MC5, Pat Benatar y Todd Rundgren, causando bastante decepción de parte de sus fans.
Pero es Richie Faulkner, guitarrista de Judas Priest desde 2011, quien no aguantó mucho y arrojó con todo en contra del R&RHOF: Respondiendo a un fan en Twitter, que quedó desconcertado por la selección final, Faulkner respondió: «Por eso el Rock Hall no tiene credibilidad para mí y nunca lo ha hecho”. Continuó diciendo: «Lo dije antes, pero estoy con una banda que hace 50 años está haciendo música, recorriendo el mundo con los mejores fanáticos del mundo es el mayor galardón que podría tener. Estas instituciones se basan en lo que estos muchachos ayudaron a crear y no ser incluido es una broma total. He dicho».

“Si quieres llamarlo Rock Hall, entonces debes comenzar con una base saludable de rock, en todas sus formas, sobre la cual construir. Los hermanos y hermanas fundadores que crearon y desarrollaron nuestro amado estilo de música y ayudaron a su evolución. De lo contrario, ¿qué significa?» continúa al finalizar su descargo.

I’ve said it before but 50 years in and still making music, touring the globe to the best fans in the world is the biggest accolade I can think of. Judas Priest ya fue nominado en 2017, y no entró. La banda independiente de ello comenzará sus celebraciones del 50 aniversario en Helsinki el 30 de mayo y completará la primera serie de shows encabezando el festival Bloodstock del Reino Unido el 9 de agosto.
